Our Mission
To increase the participation of black women athletes in action sport competitions and careers.
Founded June 19, 2022 by Nicole Humphrey with the support of social skate organizers. BGS is a community built non-profit working to increase safety practices, inform health, rally resources, encourage equity and develop play spaces for youth and young adult shredders (ages 18-25). We are specifically focused on the Black community and their IPOC (Indigenous/People of Color) peers supporting shredders of all style and skill level, including various action sports; skateboarding, roller skating, biking, surfing, figure skating, snowboarding and more… Everything we do is in collaboration with community, intentionally centering those who identify as WOMEN, LGBTQIA + GNC.

We believe that through providing access, inspiration and resources we can support the world of actions sports growing to become more inclusive and intentional spaces for Black athletes.
We believe that all people of color have a right to quality of life spaces and if given the right development and opportunities, they will become viable competitors, artists and engineers within the action sports industry.
